Finding The Right Candidate

This week I have been working one two jobs one in Runcorn and one in Middleton. They are both for mechanical maintenance engineers. Our clients are in the FMCG industry so the candidates need to have experience in the following areas; packaging, food and beverage and/or the pharmaceutical industry. One client has specified they want them to have experience on packaging machines and the other wants them to have experience on labellers, shrink wrappers and fillers.
I found many suitable candidates for the roles I’m currently working on with 6 of them going for an interview for the same job. I set up a shortlist to find these candidates on our large internal database. I made sure the search I set up included what the client was specifically looking for so I wasn’t wasting our client’s time with pointless C.V’s. I haven’t found many issues with the two jobs I’m working on as I feel I’ve gained enough experience in my role to make the decisions on the right candidates.
I have been mainly working on the role in Middleton as the other role I’m waiting for feedback on candidates I have sent before I continue the search. The role is for a mechanical maintenance engineer and they will be required to work a continental shift 7-7 4 on 4 off. It offers an amazing salary of £39,000; so many people have been interested in this role. I also sent out an email to candidates with information about the job on, I did this so I didn’t miss out on any candidates that I couldn’t get hold of due to their current work commitments.
These two roles have been easy to find suitable candidates for as I’ve learnt a lot in what a suitable candidates is as well as having the right searches in place also helps a lot. I know I can go to my boss if I’m unsure on a candidate and he will share his opinion with me and we will discuss the pros and cons the candidate has. It fills me with confidence when a candidate gets an interview as I know I’m doing my job to the best of my ability at it gives me recognition that I’m making the right decisions.
